John Frederick Christgau (born February 11, 1934〔"John Frederick Christgau". ''Contemporary Authors Online''. December 3, 2008. Retrieved on October 18, 2009.〕) is an American author of fiction and non-fiction. He was born in Polk County, Minnesota, then moved to California, where he attended San Francisco State University. He taught at several high schools and coached Crestmoor High School's first varsity basketball team, in San Bruno, California.〔''Wingspread'', Crestmoor High School, 1964 and 1965 editions〕 He lives in Belmont, California. His books have dealt primarily with sports and American history.
